After having eaten many things, we wore yukata to see fireworks. We enjoyed seeing those. There were very beautiful because many colors floated in the sky. The fireworks had many colors and many shapes. Japanese fireworks have many colors and many shapes too, but Independence day fireworks have many colors. Especially more red fireworks than in Japan. The smiley face fireworks were very cute. However, There are few in Japan.

The first event which we came to Santa Barbara in the United States was the Independence Day party, so it was a lot of fun, and we were able to make lots of memories. It was nice to be able to really participate in this party. (Mayumi Ono)

We went to Gigi’s house on July 4th, and we held an Independence Day Party there. We had a very great time. This is a picture about some cupcakes which we decorated. We put on whipped cream, put on a star type sprinkles, topped the ith chocolate, and we made our own cupcakes. Everyone was excited with a lot of colorful things such as cupcakes, strawberry taste and chocolate taste. In Japan, most people didn’t not design cupcakes themselves, so it was very fun memory and a nice experience.

We made the neighbors happy because we wore yukata. Yukata are Japanese traditional clothes. We think these are rare dress for foreigners. It was very difficult because we often don't wear them, so we spent a bit of time and effort. However, Everyone was able to wear a yukata cleanly and it was very good. We took a lot of pictures with friends, teachers and local people. This is one of our favorite pictures. (Karin Takada)

We played lawn darts. We met Gigi, John, Randy, Randy’s girlfriend, Kim, Michelle, Sarah, Sarah’s husband, and Igor. We ate a hamburger, a hot dog, chips and dip, cupcake, watermelon salad, macaroni, potato salad, and a cake topped with strawberries, chocolate ice cream, and so many foods!
